The NDIS stands for the National Disability Insurance Scheme. It is an Australian government initiative designed to provide support to individuals with disabilities. The scheme helps participants by funding the services and supports they need to live more independently and participate in the community, including for healthcare, daily living aids, transport, and home modifications.
NDIS aims to enhance the quality of life for people with disabilities by offering personalized plans based on their specific needs and goals.
What is SDA?
SDA stands for the Specialist Disability Accommodation. SDA is housing that is designed and built to cater specifically to people with disabilities who have significant needs. It is different from regular rental or public housing because it’s tailored to meet specific disability support requirements.
SDA homes are designed with accessibility features like wider doorways, ramps, hoists, and sometimes even specialized technology for people with high physical support needs or other specific needs.
